The
History and Mission of the Light up the Night Gala
Teamsters
Local 25’s Light up
the Night Gala was established in 2008 to promote awareness
and raise funds for autism research. Since its inception,
the Gala has not only served as a major autism awareness
event, but also a critical fundraiser for local programs
that help autistic children.
The Light up the Night
Gala honors individuals and groups who are working to educate
the public about autism, largely considered the fastest growing
medical threat to children, with one in 110 children and one
in 70 boys being diagnosed annually. In 2011, House Speaker
Robert DeLeo was honored for his work in passage of the autism
insurance law which requires private health plans to treat
Autism as a medical condition, and to provide coverage of the
diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders.
Make sure
to “save the date” and join us for our
fifth annual Light up the Night Gala on Saturday, April 7,
2012, and enjoy a lively reception, exciting silent auctions,
a live band and dancing and much more!
